As college students, you will, for the majority, be old enough to vote. Many of you will have registered to vote when you got your license so that is one less thing that you need to worry about.
Deadlines for registering to vote are passed, so if you are not registered then you missed this round. However you can still do your part by reminding your friends to vote.
To the rest of you, MARK YOUR CALENDAR!
November 6th
That is the midterm election day so please go out and vote. They open early the polling stations. You shouldn’t care if you have class, you shouldn’t’ care if you want to socialize instead. You need to vote. It doesn’t matter which way you vote, but you need to be one of the numbers. We live in a Democracy and it is your god-given right to vote. Do not waste it.
Most professors will understand if you will be late for a class, or have to leave early to vote. Most of mine are giving extra credit if we do, just to make sure we go.
So please, go and vote.
If you do a mail in ballot, it will be due before that deadline, so that get in by the end of next week!
“A share in the sovereignty of the state, which is exercised by the citizens at large, in voting at elections is one of the most important rights of the subject, and in a republic ought to stand foremost in the estimation of the law. “
